Teen art classes, designed especially for this age group, present fundamental approaches to art. Students learn a variety of techniques and develop their own styles.


Weekend Classes

Sketch Book
Five Saturdays, November 1, 8, 15, 22, December 6 | 11 am–1 pm
Provided with a portable sketchbook, charcoal, pencils, and pastels, you will draw from observation. Discover your own personal style while sketching in the museum's galleries. With artist Earnest Merritt.
NexGen and LACMA members $150; nonmembers $160
Art materials and parking fees included in tuition; limited enrollment.

The Imaginary in Art
Five Saturdays, January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14 | 2–4 pm
See how artists use their imagination to create fantastical drawings, paintings, and sculptures of people, animals, and landscapes. Explore how artists use color, perspective, and shapes to make the familiar appear unfamiliar. Use your own ideas to make original works of art using a variety of dry media, collage, and paint. With artist May Jong.
