ARSG Opening #2: Defining Nature
Friday, November 8, 2008 | 6:30-8:30 pm
Lower Level, Leo S. Bing Center
Michael Giancristiano’s complex wood pieces are inspired by elements of nature and the concept of change, as he reveals the natural beauty of wood.
The views found in Rebecca Hamm's watercolor paintings illustrate beauty and transformation in nature. Her work presents nature’s strength and resilience in response to destructive human intervention.
Paul Guillemette creates mixed media and plywood panels that are inspired by elements of nature and the concept of transformation. His work is largely abstract but also represents a geographical area of the earth undergoing dramatic change.
Yoichi Kawamura’s unique photographs explore the meaning of physical space, while allowing the viewer to discover something within the images that is familiar.
The show is on view through Friday, January 8, 2009 during regular museum hours. Rentals and purchases can be made through the Art Rental & Sales Gallery at the show or during office hours, Tuesday and Thursday–Saturday, 11 am–4 pm. For more information on the exhibition, gallery, or the Art Museum Council, please call 323 857-6500.
